May Day special. Spring pollen heightens our allergies and general sense of irritation: today’s entry—the Vietnam-era MIA flags flying below the US flag in all New York City parks. Why, almost 40 years after the Vietnam War, does NYC government feel the need to commemorate “missing or captive” US soldiers in every park? Let’s also fly a flag hailing those brave souls who, in the face of derision, imprisonment and worse, opposed these disastrous wars, or a flag commemorating the (far more numerous) foreign victims of same (2,000 American MIAs vs. over 300,000 Vietnamese).

A memorial is fine: but constantly….?

Along with the book, we’re launching a web and mobile-friendly version of the oral history (Hacking Politics: TLDR), which you can check out here. It’s beautiful. We recommend it.

In a secretive ceremony attended by a handful of close admirers, Hardcover Book was buried this past weekend. The end came after years of decline. “It was the sale of Goodreads to Amazon that was the final blow,” sobbed a close relative, Jacket Design. “HB just couldn’t take any more.” When reached for comment, Publishing, a legal guardian of Hardcover Book, expressed surprise at the death. “I didn’t even realize it was still around,” Publishing said. Family have asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to your local library.
